Join a Mission Where Love Leads the Way
Are you a passionate fundraiser who wants your work to reflect your values? Do you believe that everyone deserves hope, dignity, and the opportunity for transformation?
This isn't just a job. The Philanthropy Officer, Major Gifts is a key member of our growing development team, and you will play a vital role in fueling Scott Mission’s transformative work. You will lead the strategy and relationship-building for a portfolio of up to 150 donors, helping secure major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
You’ll collaborate across departments—Philanthropy, Marketing, Ministry, and Operations—to create powerful donor experiences that align with their passions and our mission. You’ll help shape a culture of generosity, deepen donor relationships to ensure every donor feels valued, and drive lasting impact across Toronto.
This is your chance to do work that truly matters—every single day.
Why This Opportunity is Different:
- Meaningful Work: Every day, you'll contribute to a mission that provides hope, transforms lives, and serves the most vulnerable in our community; connecting donors to our life-changing programs–shelter, food, daycare, counselling, summer camp, and more. Your work will have a tangible, lasting impact.
- Collaborative Environment: You'll work hand-in-hand with our Development Team and collaborate across Philanthropy, Marketing, Ministry, and Operations groups. We believe in teamwork and shared success.
- Values-Driven Culture: The Scott Mission is a Christian organization committed to servant-leadership, fostering a truthful, forgiving, approachable, joyful, and healthy environment. We are looking for individuals who share our faith and values.
Who You Are:
- Proven Fundraising Acumen: Experience in major gift fundraising, with a solid understanding of mass, mid-level, and legacy giving.
- Exceptional Communicator: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strategic Mindset: Ability to develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies and monitor progress against clear metrics.
- Ethical & Compliant: Deep knowledge of fundraising regulations and ethical standards (AFP guidelines, Donor Bill of Rights, CRA, and CCCC guidelines).
- Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Blackbaud, Raiser's Edge, Engaging Networks) and strong O365 skills.
- Experienced Professional: A university degree and 4+ years of experience with a focus on major gifts preferred. CFRE designation secured or being worked towards.
- Faith-Driven: A clear commitment to live out your Christian faith and agreement with the Statement of Faith of Scott Mission.

About Cause Leadership Inc.
OUR SERVICES
Bringing People Together for Good
Supporting charities in finding and hiring C-suite and fundraising leaders to advance their cause.
Your organization does not have to compromise in the following areas when searching for a highly qualified leader:
-
Limited Reach - Filling C-level and Director roles in the charitable sector is challenging. You are competing with other organizations for the same talent.
-
Lack of Diversity - You're challenged to find the best fundraising talent and need a systematic process to court the ideal candidate who could provide your organization with the balanced leadership it needs.
-
High Charges – Most large recruitment firms charge high fees to uncover top talent, but you deserve pricing you can trust.
-
Lack of Time & Experience - To advance your mission, you need the best available top candidates from a deep search and proactive recruitment, both of which take time and experience.
Our Committment to You:
-
The best candidates come from positive outreach rather than passive responses to job postings. As a result, we also make proactive connections rather than only relying on the current job seeker pool.
-
We believe flat-fee executive search and recruitment beats the traditional percentage-based fee model. Therefore, unlike the conventional model of search consulting, we charge a fixed fee for our executive search services, which eliminates the conflicts of interest of percentage fees.
-
We operate with a targeted reach beyond the standard search firm networks while also providing a selection of well-vetted candidates in less time than the large search firms.
