Are you ready to apply your knowledge in the real world? We are hiring, two (2) Co-op Safety students for the May 4 – Aug 28 , 2026 term. One student will join the Safety Program Team , while the other will work with the Safety Continuous Improvement Team. During your time with us, you will gain exposure to what it’s like to be part of our Safety Management team, such as assisting Nova Scotia Power Safety resources by the provisioning of tools, materials, and insights to aid in corporate requirements. Additionally, to promote the values of Nova Scotia Power’s safety culture by being proactive and speaking-up on safety.

What You’ll Do We’ll treat you as one of our own and your key areas of responsibility will include :

  • Support development and continuous improvement of Nova Scotia Power’s Safety Programs and the Safety Management System as a whole
  • Support the development of educational and training materials related to the Nova Scotia Power SMS.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of digital information platforms, including development workshops.
  • Support the Safety Department with administrative support as needed
  • This role requires primarily a system administration focus within Nova Scotia Power Safety Department, but will be required to intermittently participate with other safety and operational resources.
  • The position will be required to adhere to basic personal protective equipment requirements of Nova Scotia Power and the Affiliate companies when conducting observational activities but will not be engaged in any operational work activities.

Qualifications These skills will make you successful:

  • The successful candidate is enrolled in their 1st or 2nd year of a two-year occupational health and safety diploma program, or a student in a similar undergraduate program such as OHS or Industrial Engineering
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, is client/customer focused, working well in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and data processing skills are required in addition to a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong computer literacy includes effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

About Nova Scotia Power

We provide 95 per cent of the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in Nova Scotia, and serve over 500,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers across the province.

Our 1,700 dedicated, safety-focused employees help manage $5 billion worth of generation, transmission and distribution assets and produce more than 10,000 gigawatt hours of electricity each year.

We use a fuel mix including hydro, tidal, wind, coal, oil, biomass and natural gas to generate electricity. Our facilities can generate as much as 2,453 megawatts of electricity that is delivered across 32,000 km of transmission and distribution lines throughout Nova Scotia.
