Cook Team Member

Reports To: Operations Manager

Work Hours: Shift 1 - 12am-8am

Compensation: $20/hour, additional $2/hour between the hours of 12am-6am

Work Location: On-site, Saulter

The Position

The Cook Team Member contributes to the preparation for that day's tasty lunch. You'll perform routine kitchen duties such as setting up workstations, and following recipes. The Cook Team Member is proactive in health and safety matters, ensuring all rules are being followed. The Cook Team Member will consistently work as a member of a fast-paced, busy environment in a team setting.

Key Responsibilities

Food Production

  • Assist with high-volume meal preparation.
  • Cook and portion hot food items according to standardized recipes.
  • Organize, weigh, and count food ingredients.
  • Follow all food safety regulations and operational guidelines.
  • Ensure all food meets quality and safety standards, promptly reporting any issues to the Quality Assurance team and Production Manager.
  • Contribute to team performance metrics and participate in team meetings.
  • Support production tasks related to meal preparation for the following day.
  • Other duties as required

Clean & Safe Work Environment

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Ensure fridges and freezers remain well-stocked and orderly.
  • Properly sort and dispose of kitchen waste in an organized manner.
  • Assist with waste removal as needed.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols to create a safe working environment.

Required Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced kitchen or food production environment is preferred.

Additional Skills

  • Strong work ethic – dedicated, reliable, and eager to get the job done right.
  • Team player – works well in a collaborative environment.
  • Punctual and dependable – maintains a strong attendance record.
  • Physical stamina – able to stand for an entire 8-hour shift and lift up to 25kg repeatedly.
  • Attention to cleanliness – maintains high hygiene and sanitation standards.
  • Basic English proficiency – ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Math skills – capable of performing basic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) for portioning and measurements.

Nice-to-have

  • First Aid Training Certification
  • Food Handler’s Certification

Description of physical demands and work environment

E.g. This position is generally quite labour intensive and requires being on your feet, on the production floor, for up to 90% of the time. 10% of the time would then be dedicated to paperwork/computer work. There will be constant exposure to environmental conditions with varying transitional temperatures. Regular lifting of products, up to 50lbs, with repetitive motion can be expected. Proper lifting techniques and use of equipment provided is essential to prevent injury. We may require you to work outside of your core work hours on occasion.
