We are currently recruiting for the following role in our Calgary office:

Analyst, Business Analytics & Pricing

The Role The Analyst, Business Analytics & Pricing will report to the Director, Business Analytics & Pricing and will work closely with the Firm's Finance & Accounting and Client & Business Development teams. The person in this role will be dedicated to creatively solving problems and delivering value to our internal and external clients.

This position supports the business of the Firm and its relationships with its clients through the analysis of quantitative and qualitative information and facilitating well-informed pricing decisions. The work of the Analyst, Business Analytics & Pricing will inform economic and operational decisions made by the Pricing Committee and the Firm's partners with a view to gaining and maintaining strong client relationships, continuing to deliver valuable legal services in respect of complex matters, and enhancing Firm profitability.

Essential Functions The responsibilities of the Analyst, Business Analytics & Pricing lie within the categories of pricing, management reporting and analysis, and supporting business development proposals

This role will support the Firm's Business Analytics & Pricing function by:

  • Supporting the Firm's lawyers and Business Development team by pricing the Firm's services, including developing alternative fee arrangements (AFAs), for clients across all offices
  • Support the development of pricing, budget and legal project management (LPM) templates and tools to streamline the pricing and budgeting process for client matters
  • Assisting with financial analysis in relation to historical, existing and potential client matters or portfolios of work
  • Utilize accounting and business intelligence software systems to develop data-driven insights
  • Providing timely and effective tracking and monitoring of matter budgets utilizing LPM methodologies
  • Work to develop, improve and/or automate processes and templates

The position will require the Analyst, Business Analytics & Pricing to quickly become fluent with the Firm's leading technology platforms, utilizing them daily to achieve the Pricing Committee's priorities.

Qualifications The Analyst, Business Analytics & Pricing shall possess:

  • Relevant university degree and 1-3 years of finance or accounting-related experience, ideally acquired in a large, matrixed legal or professional services organization
  • An accounting designation or working towards an accounting designation (CPA) is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and perform well in dealing with ambiguity
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel, including familiarity with Power BI, SSAS cubes, and SQL
  • Familiarity with the pricing of professional services and financial/quantitative analysis
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work in a cross-disciplinary manner by forming strong internal networks
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • A proactive approach with a mindset of continuous innovation and improvement
  • Excellent written and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to summarize and convey complex information in a clear and concise manner
