About the role

OVERVIEW

The Risk team partners with patients, leaders and care providers across the hospital and its community drive positive changes in the areas of identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with patient safety, legal compliance, emergency preparedness and enterprise risks from across the organization. The Policy Specialist will be reporting to the Manager, Risk Management and works closely with Hospital’s Policy Committee. The Policy Specialist will develop, implement and evaluate hospital policies and will maintain oversight of the hospital’s policy system.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare or Business Administration or a related program.

  • Master’s degree (Business or Healthcare Administration) and healthcare related certifications are assets.

  • Lean/Six-sigma and project management certifications are assets.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of experience designing and implementing policy analysis or development in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong team facilitation skills – able to provide multi-disciplinary team members with clarity on project goals and a pathway to achieve success.
  • Must have initiative; diplomacy and tact; experience dealing with
  • Highly sensitive and confidential matters is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and reprioritize in an environment of
  • constant change.
  • Must be able to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects with competing deadlines and priorities concurrently.
  • Excellent time management skills – can effectively manage multiple projects and address competing demands based on priority.
  • Excellent capabilities with Microsoft Office suite, including data analytics and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written – can succinctly convey the salient messages imbedded in large information sets.
  • Good work and attendance record required.
