ROLE

The Business Consultant assists their assigned Directors with the creation and monitoring of program budgets, forecasts, business cases and performance management information. Each Business Consultant will also be assigned specific responsibilities around:

  • MIS Coordination
  • Statistical completion/validation
  • Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis both with financials and statistical information
  • Reporting requirements to Ministry of Health and Long-term Care or funding bodies and ad-hoc reporting
  • Business case development and aids in identification of improvement opportunities
  • Case Costing

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)

  • University degree in finance, accounting, business or a related discipline
  • Recognized accounting designation
  • Has completed, or is willing to take OHA Management Information System (MIS) levels 1&2

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)

  • Minimum of three (3) years in finance, preferably in a health care setting
  • Understanding of and an interest in clinical informatics and:
    • OHRS
    • CIHI MIS Guidelines
  • Experience with integrated hospital information systems, preferably MEDITECH and ESM
  • Strong aptitude for analysis and interpretation of data
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel, Word and other software
  • Strong interpersonal/communications skills and customer service focus
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to provide education to all levels of the organization as it relates to workload and indicators

DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION

  • Experience in decision support is desirable
