We are seeking a Feedlot Manager for our North Lot (capacity of 5000 head), near Coaldale, AB.
The Feedlot Manager is responsible for overseeing daily feedlot operations, ensuring cattle receive proper nutrition, health care, and handling to achieve optimal weight gain and overall well-being. This includes managing feed programs, monitoring animal health, implementing disease prevention strategies, and ensuring that all cattle meet market standards efficiently. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to direct, monitor, and evaluate employees and procedures. Maintaining cattle health and welfare is the top priority.

Duties & Responsibilities

Cattle Health & Nutrition – Oversee cattle health and nutrition protocols.

Feed Operations – Manage feed inventory. Supervise feed mill operations, including processing, equipment maintenance, and quality control.

Communication – Maintain strong communication with senior management, employees and third-party vendors. Coordinate with veterinarians and nutritionists to address any concerns.

Personnel Management – Hire, train, and supervise staff, ensuring role clarity, efficiency, and compliance with safety regulations. Work with HR on performance management and company culture initiatives.

Facility & Equipment Maintenance – Oversee maintenance of feedlot infrastructure, equipment, and water systems. Ensure regular cleaning and repairs in coordination with mechanics and contractors.

Record Keeping & Compliance – Maintain accurate records on cattle inventory, health, feeding, and performance.

Financial Oversight – Track expenses and optimize operational efficiency while maintaining profitability.
Equipment Used
Includes but is not limited to trucks, loaders, processing equipment, tractors and feedlot water systems.
Education, Experience & Requirements

Post secondary education an asset.

Minimum 2-3 years of feedlot experience required.

Minimum 3 years of management experience required in any industry.

Experience operating farm equipment preferred.

Class 5 Driver’s License required (Class 1 or 3 an asset).
Working Conditions
-
Typically required to work when needed for efficient operation of the feedlot, which may include weekends and holidays. Hours vary from 5am (occasional shipping requirements) until 5pm, but the working day is usually 10 hours per day and can be adjusted as needed.

Work involves outdoor exposure to varying weather conditions.

Administrative work required.
