Responsibilities In this position...

The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Lead daily shop floor engineering activities to ensure production efficiency and technical compliance.
  • Analyze large manufacturing datasets using Minitab and QualityWorX to identify trends and drive data-based conclusions.
  • Conduct formal root-cause analysis using the Eight Disciplines and Five Whys methodologies to implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Enforce Quality Operating System requirements and ensure all shop floor standards are strictly followed.
  • Mentor and coach production personnel on technical processes, quality standards, and best practices.
  • Communicate complex technical information and project results effectively through written reports and verbal presentations to all levels of the organization.
  • Manage engineering tasks and stakeholder relationships effectively within a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools such as Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain (5S), Kanban, Poka-yoke (error-proofing), Value Stream Mapping, and Single-Minute Exchange of Die.
  • Execute and maintain critical quality documentation and processes including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Production Part Approval Process, and Measurement Systems Analysis.
  • Design and perform Design of Experiments and Statistical Process Control to optimize manufacturing processes and improve yield.
  • Lead cross-functional projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment between Quality, Production, and Maintenance departments.
  • Implement and manage Visual Factory tools to improve transparency and real-time monitoring of production metrics.
  • Apply a pragmatic, hands-on approach to solve complex engineering problems with a consistent bias for action.
  • Supervise engineering initiatives and serve as the primary technical lead for the production department.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and coaching to foster a culture of quality and operational excellence.

Qualifications You'll have...

Education : Bachelor’s degree in engineering.(Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required).

Experience:

  • 4+ years' of hands‑on shop floor engineering experience.
  • 2+ years' of data analysis competency using tools such as Minitab and QualityWorX; able to analyze large data sets and drive conclusions.
  • Practical experience in root‑cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions (8D/5‑Why).
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor production personnel and communicate technical information clearly (written and verbal).

Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial or manufacturing Engineering.

Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Lean and Six Sigma experience (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred); proficiency with Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain (5S), Kanban, Poka-yoke (error-proofing), Value Stream Mapping, and Single-Minute Exchange of Die.
  • Adept knowledge of Quality Operating System requirements and the ability to enforce standards.
  • Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Production Part Approval Process, Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, Measurement Systems Analysis, and visual factory management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and statistical/quality software (Minitab, QualityWorX).
  • Supervisory experience as an Engineering lead.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on, pragmatic approach with a bias for action.
  • Effective coaching and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional projects and present results to leadership.

The expected annual salary range for this Ford of Canada position is $ 87,000.00 - $137,000.00 and individuals may be eligible to participate in our Annual Compensation bonus program.
