POSITION: Maintenance Supervisor —Commercial Greenhouse (Rural Albert)

**LOCATION:**201008 Township Rd 120, Iron Springs, AB T0K 1V0

**HOURS:**Full time (Weekends: Required as operational needs arise especially during peak seasons)

WAGE: Starting at $35.00/HR

Position Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees daily maintenance operations within a large-scale commercial greenhouse producing flowers and houseplants for major retailers across Western Canada.

This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, facility safety, and the timely completion of preventative and corrective maintenance. The Supervisor leads a multicultural team of five technicians and works closely with the Maintenance Manager to support seasonal production demands and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate, assign, and monitor daily maintenance tasks for a team of five technicians.
• Oversee preventative maintenance programs for greenhouse structures, irrigation systems, boilers, conveyors, climate control systems, and mobile equipment.
• Respond promptly to urgent equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
• Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of equipment used at heights (e.g., scissor lifts, roof vents, shade systems).
• Maintain accurate records in the CMMS, including work orders, asset history, and parts usage.
• Support seasonal changeovers, facility expansions, and special projects.
• Collaborate with Production, Growing, and Facilities teams to prioritize work and maintain operational flow.
• Train team members on equipment operation, safety procedures, and maintenance best practices.

Qualifications

• Physically capable of working in an indoor and outdoor greenhouse environment, including exposure to heat, humidity, cold temperatures, and working at heights.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in facility or industrial maintenance.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a maintenance or technical environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Comfortable using, or willing to learn, a CMMS for scheduling and documentation.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred / Asset Qualifications

• Journeyperson certification (Millwright, Electrician, HVAC, or related trade).
• Experience in greenhouse, agricultural, food production, or other seasonal operations.
• Experience supervising a multicultural or multilingual team.
• Knowledge of boilers, irrigation systems, climate control systems, or greenhouse automation systems.

Work Environment

• Combination of indoor greenhouse, outdoor yard, and shop environments.
• Exposure to seasonal temperature fluctuations, humidity, and wet conditions.
• Regular work at heights using ladders, lifts, and catwalks.
• Fast-paced environment with seasonal peaks requiring flexibility and adaptability.
