About the role
Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a senior Canadian natural gas exploration and production company,
focused on long-term growth through an active exploration, development, production, and
acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
We are seeking a Data and Application Specialist to become our in-house expert on EZOps,
the digital backbone of our field operations. This role is ideal for someone who wants to build a
unique skillset that blends technical capability with operational knowledge—experience that's
increasingly valuable as the energy industry continues its digital transformation. You'll work
directly with field teams, corporate specialists, and software vendors, gaining exposure across
the entire business while developing expertise in data systems, process optimization, and user-
focused application design.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to day-to-day requests from field operators for quick fixes, updates, and
troubleshooting in EZOps
- Work with foremen, superintendents, and managers on strategic requests to enhance
system functionality and workflows
- Collaborate with corporate teams (emissions, asset integrity, engineering, rotating
equipment, E/I, regulatory) on integrations, functionality improvements, process
optimization, and compliance workflows
-
Convert paper and Excel-based processes into electronic workflows within EZOps
-
Prepare and execute EZOps rollouts for new areas and set up new wells, equipment, and
facilities as they come online
- Configure and maintain inspection forms such as D-55, plunger, car seal, orifice plate,
well inspections, SCVF, inactive/suspended wells, flare ignitors, critical safety bypass,
and others as required
- Set up and manage scheduling for recurring maintenance activities such as
engine/compressor servicing, oil samples, pump service, DEOS, and burner checks
- Perform ongoing data maintenance to ensure accuracy and consistency across the
platform
-
Write SQL queries to extract, analyze, and report on operational data
-
Participate in weekly committee meetings, roadmap reviews, and quarterly customer
advisory board meetings
- Train and support new users, run refresher sessions after rollouts, and create quick
reference guides
- Maintain system documentation, process notes, and how-to guides for configurations and
workflows
- Work with the software vendor to report bugs, request features, and troubleshoot
technical issues
-
Validate new features, form updates, and system changes before deployment
-
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual entry, and improve data
quality
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent
practical experience
- 10-15 years of experience in a data, applications, or operations support role, preferably in
oil and gas
-
Proficiency in SQL for querying and data analysis
-
Experience with EZOps or similar field data capture and operations management
platforms is a strong asset
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple area rollouts and
stakeholder requests simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills — comfortable working directly with field personnel and
translating operational needs into system configurations
-
Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and consistency
-
Self-motivated and able to work independently while keeping stakeholders informed
-
Ability to travel to field offices on a monthly frequency
-
Experience with documenting business processes and application support standards
