WAGE RANGE: $36.84 to $50.24 per hour

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Reporting to the Manager of Biomedical Engineering, the Biomedical Technologist will demonstrate the technical knowledge and skills required to achieve customer focused medical device service objectives within an integrated multi-site health care system. Working within a team environment, the Biomedical Technologist will provide high quality technical services including day to day repair and maintenance of medical devices, inspections, preventative maintenance, advice to clinical users at the various sites of Niagara Health and regional on-call for emergency service after hours. The incumbent will follow the CMBES Standards of Practice in a certified peer reviewed environment. HIS responsibilities as assigned. The successful incumbent must be able to travel between all sites of Niagara Health if required.

QUALIFICATIONS

o Graduate of a recognized University degree or College diploma program in Biomedical Engineering Technology o Experience as a Biomedical Technologist o Demonstrated knowledge, skill and experience in the repair of medical devices and equipment o Working knowledge of legislated safety requirements, codes, standards and regulations including CSA, IEC 60601, CMBESOP and Health Canada o Excellent knowledge with the use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), Microsoft Office and other related Hospital systems o Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development o Applies knowledge, skills, judgment and competencies required for safe, independent and inter-disciplinary practice by meeting professional standards as outlined by the Canadian Medical and Biological Engineering Society of Canada o Applies Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to provide Extraordinary Delivery of Health Technology Management to Support Extraordinary Patient Care o Integrates critical thinking, education and relevant practical experience in problem solving o Must have valid driver's license and ability to travel between Niagara Health sites o Consistent and regular attendance required
