About The Roles

The Senior Commercial Account Manager develops effective sales strategies for growing and increasing annual revenues and profitability, manages existing and new deal structuring while focusing on the day-to-day risk management of the files within the commercial portfolio, including underwriting large and complex credits in the Commercial and First Nations Industry with a consistent emphasis on customer service.

Key Responsibilities

    • Structure competitive lending solutions to assist the Commercial Team in meeting customer needs in a professional and timely manner
    • Develop a network of contacts within the Bank that will assist in improving underwriting/adjudicating and service skills
    • Develop, maintain and apply an understanding of pricing models/concepts
    • Support the MBD in booking new business by preparing competitive credit packages in a timely manner
    • Support MBD in facilitating syndication deals for large and/or complex client relationships
    • Write credit applications with a high quality of risk assessment, credit structure, due diligence, and credit presentation
    • Make recommendations on credit decisions to Credit Risk
    • Use Bank guidelines and systems to effectively minimize time spent/writing/monitoring credit while maintaining credit quality (risk assessment, due diligence, etc.)
    • Renew credits in a timely manner
    • Monitor and control the portfolio and provide feedback on any accounts that are outside guidelines and/or assigned limits and conditions
    • Provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff members, including training

About You

    • Results orientated with proven success in growing revenue and profitability
    • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop lasting customer relationships
    • Strong credit judgement
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills
    • Strong customer focus and driven to provide exceptional customer service
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills
    • Knowledge of portfolio management
    • Strong background in Business Banking, including marketing, business development underwriting and compliance

Qualifications:

    • Undergraduate or graduate degree in business with a focus in finance (BComm, MBA)
    • Five (5) years of experience in commercial lending
    • Sales oriented with ability to grow revenue and profitability
    • Ability to develop and implement a sales strategy and identify opportunities
    • Ability to structure credit and manage complex business portfolios
    • Sound credit judgement and understanding of commercial credit policies and practices
