About the role

We're a not-for-profit mental health centre based in Calgary, with locations across Alberta. Our mission is to build good mental health and well-being so everyone can thrive in their community.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Program Manager to lead our School-Based Mental Health Programs. This position is ideal for a clinical professional who brings strong leadership skills, demonstrated program development experience, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-agency partnership model. The Program Manager will oversee a dedicated team of early career managers and clinical staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery within a fast-paced school environment.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Management

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight of the School-Based Mental Health Programs.
  • Supervise entry-level managers, clinical practitioners, and support staff, fostering a culture of learning, accountability, and excellence.
  • Ensure program performance aligns with agency goals and partnership agreements.

Clinical Oversight

  • Offer clinical guidance, case consultation, and practice leadership to staff.
  • Support adherence to clinical best practices, ethical standards, and evidence-informed approaches.
  • Collaborate with school partners to respond to emerging clinical needs within the student population.

Partnership & Collaboration

  • Work effectively within a formal partnership structure involving education, health, and community agencies.
  • Represent the program at partnership tables, agency committees, and community meetings.
  • Build strong relationships with school administrators, teachers, and system partners to ensure program integration and responsiveness.

Program Development & Quality Improvement

  • Demonstrate leadership in developing, enhancing, and implementing program initiatives.
  • Lead evaluation activities, monitor outcomes, and use data to drive improvement.
  • Identify service gaps and propose innovative solutions that align with the needs of students, families, and schools.

Documentation, Reporting & Communication

  • Write and edit program documentation including reports, proposals, communications, and evaluations with clarity and precision.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, accreditation standards, and funder requirements.
  • Maintain effective documentation systems and oversee reporting deadlines.

Agency & System Leadership

  • Contribute to agency-wide initiatives, committees, and leadership discussions.
  • Participate actively in both agency and education-system leadership forums.
  • Support strategic planning and organizational priorities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree preferred in social work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related mental health field (equivalencies will be considered).
  • Registration is in good standing with the appropriate professional college if applicable (e.g., ACSW, CAP, CCPA).
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in child, youth, or family mental health.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of management/ leadership/supervisory experience, ideally within a school-based, community mental health, or clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising both new managers and frontline clinicians.
  • Proven track record in program development and implementation.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills for reports, proposals, and program documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working within collaborative or integrated service partnerships is an asset.
