The Opportunity

The Senior Developer plays a vital role in Atlantic's Technical Services Group, bringing expertise in the Power platform (Power Bi, Power Automate, SharePoint etc.) and its tools. The successful candidate will be tasked with developing and managing BI tools, as well as transforming raw data into valuable insights presented through engaging dashboards and reports. This role will require frequent collaboration with the various teams across the company.

The incumbent will collaborate with various business users to comprehend their requirements, develop a data warehouse, and create reporting solutions tailored to their needs. The User needs to follow best practices in data visualization, aligning with the norms set within the larger IT team.

Location: Scarborough, Ontario (hybrid 3 days in office)

What You’ll Do

  • Study, analyze and understand business requirements in context to business intelligence and be able to convert requirements into technical specifications and decide the timeline to accomplish tasks.
  • Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for web and mobile applications right the first time.
  • Design and map data models to shift raw data into meaningful insights.
  • To design, develop, and deploy Power BI scripts and perform efficient detailed analysis.
  • Utilize Power BI to build interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports.
  • To create charts and document data with algorithms, parameters, models, and relations explanations
  • Train new team members
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and quality in deliverables.
  • Represent US businesses need to ensure they are incorporated in overall data strategy.
  • To identify KPIs with clear objectives and monitor them consistently.
  • Analyze previous and present data through reports for better decision making.
  • To conduct and maintain data warehouse development.
  • Build multi-dimensional data models.
  • Develop strong data documentation about algorithms, parameters, models and conduct knowledge sharing sessions as required within the Atlantic’s analytics team.
  • Perform detailed analysis on tested and deployed Power BI scripts.
  • Run DAX queries and functions in Power BI
  • To perform SQL querying for best results
  • To define and design new systems by analyzing current ETL processes.
  • Make essential technical and strategic changes to improve present business intelligence systems and enhance their functioning.
  • Identify the requirements and develop custom charts accordingly.

What you'll bring:

  • University Degree in Computer Science or Statistics, or related major.
  • 5+ years’ experience using Power BI tools and BI systems.
  • Expert level skills to use Power Automate and other Power BI tools to build robust reporting.
  • Skilled in building rich dashboards, writing DAX expressions, and implementing security.
  • Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution recommendations.
  • Experience with big data architectures and data modeling to efficiently process large volumes of data.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data platform architecture, data modeling, database optimization, data management practices and processes.
  • Experience in data governance, data governance tools, ingestion and extraction frameworks, data security, etc.
  • Data warehousing experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS
  • Expertise in building ELT and ETL data processing on SQL Server and Azure
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Business Intelligence stack like Power Platform (BI, Automate), SSRS, SSIS and SSAS.
  • Well versed in programming languages like SAS, R, Python, VBA and Excel.
  • Proficient in database management of SQL and NoSQL.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders and to assess potential risks.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in French would be an asset.
  • Frequent travel to various US operations may be required.
