About the role
Position Summary
The Vice President of Operations will lead Triumph Sustainability Services Group (geothermal, solar, and utility ownership) from early-stage startup to full operational and financial maturity. Reporting to the COO and indirectly to the CEO, this leader will be responsible for strategy implementation, sales growth, operational performance, and project financing — with a specific mandate to ensure the division remains profitable and cash flow positive through disciplined scaling.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Execution - Translate the long-term strategic plan into actionable milestones. - Maintain strict cost and cash flow discipline while scaling up operations. - Continuously prioritize profitable work and phase expansion accordingly.
- Sales, Partnerships & Growth - Lead business development and early-stage sales efforts. - Build relationships with developers, institutions, and municipalities. - Oversee client outreach for utility-style agreements.
- Project Financing & Contract Structuring - Design ownership, lease, and long-term service agreements. - Lead financial modeling and investor negotiations. - Ensure contracts support recurring revenue and risk control.
- Operations Oversight - Manage geothermal (Loop Drilling), solar (Triumph Solar), and Clean Energy Development Ltd. - Ensure proper coordination across drilling, EPC, and maintenance. - Drive job costing, project performance, and lean delivery.
- Hiring & Leadership - Build the team in phases as business milestones are achieved. - Oversee hiring, reviews, and performance culture.
- Marketing & Brand Positioning - Coordinate with shared services (led by Madelaine) to build awareness. - Position Triumph Sustainability as the trusted energy partner across Ontario.
- Governance, Reporting & Financial Accountability - Maintain dashboards for project status, costs, billing, and profitability. - Report to COO and CEO monthly on all KPIs and financial health. - Proactively manage risk, ensure on-time billing and receivables collection.
