COMPENSATION:Clerical-Technical Payband 7$25.68 to $27.98 **HOURS:**7.0 hours per day, 10 months per year
JOB SUMMARY:
This position requires the incumbent to assist the teacher librarian and/or the school administration with
functions required to operate the school library. The Library Assistant position supports the strategic actions of
the Multi-Year Strategic Plan.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):
- Completion of post-secondary training in a Library Program. A combination of education and experience may
be considered.
- Strong knowledge of how learning resources (books, periodicals, kits, audio-visual, subscription databases,
equipment, realia) are organized in a school library and circulated in print and electronic formats.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge and experience with computer technology (Internet research, resource management
systems, digital library).
- Assist students and staff in the technical troubleshooting of minor hardware and instructional software
problems.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.
- Ability to interact effectively with students and staff, combined with an ability to explain information
regarding library services to all patrons using the school library learning commons.
- Excellent verbal and written skills in both official languages (English and French) are required.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Clear report from the Child Abuse Registry.
- Review and comply with Divisional policies and guidelines.
- Continued employment is subject to maintaining legal eligibility to work in Canada.
- Respect In School certification or equivalent is required.
