MAKE AN IMPACT THAT MATTERS

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and solutions-focused Site Inspector (IMIT) to join our Angus Connect team and play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects in various market sectors, including large scale data centres, acute and non-acute healthcare, and commercial/tenant. In this role, you’ll be the on-site representative for our clients, overseeing construction activities related to IMIT systems and ensuring work is completed in accordance with project specifications, codes, and standards.

You’ll conduct regular site inspections, produce clear and detailed observation reports, review progress draws and quotes, and help resolve site issues in real time. Your work will include collaborating closely with contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders to protect client interests, maintain quality standards, and ensure fair and neutral interpretation of construction contracts.

This position is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in IMIT systems—such as communications, security, AV, and building automation—who thrives in a client-facing role, enjoys problem-solving on site, and can mentor junior team members. Your technical expertise, attention to detail, and strong relationship-building skills will be key to delivering high-quality outcomes that support innovative, technology-enabled facilities in all market sectors.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Performs Contract Administration duties during project construction. Independently produces contract administration documents (e.g. site observation reports, progress draw reviews, quote reviews, etc.) based on our commitment to review the project work.

  • Provides site representation during project coordination meetings and able to resolve site issues independently.

  • Reviews company standards and provides updates based on code requirements or lessons learned from previous projects.

  • Produces Site Observation Reports based on our Commitment to Review the project work.

  • Reviews and responds to shop drawings submittals and requests for information.

  • Maintains close relationship with the client and contributes to Business Development.

  • Obtains formal training where required to perform job duties. Keeps a current knowledge of Construction Contracts and Construction Law.

  • Ensures project specifications and drawing packages are in alignment to protect the interests of the client through peer reviews prior to tender.

  • Ensures a fair and neutral interpretation of construction contracts as they relate to contract administration matters once the contract is set.

  • Other duties as required.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Post-secondary education in engineering, technology, construction management, or a related discipline. Equivalent experience in the construction industry working with a systems integrator or contractor will also be considered.

  • Strong understanding of building codes and industry standards, with hands-on experience installing, commissioning, and/or inspecting IMIT systems such as structured cabling, communication systems, security systems, AV, and building automation systems.

  • Advanced skills in MS Office, Bluebeam (or equivalent markup tools), construction documentation management platforms (e.g. Procore, Fieldwire, Part 3, etc).

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit would be considered an asset.

  • Ability to produce clear, detailed site observation reports and contract administration documentation (e.g., progress draw reviews, quote reviews, deficiency lists).

  • Strong documentation control/management skills.

  • Ability to independently resolve site issues and manage contract interpretation fairly and neutrally.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

  • Time and scope management with a proven ability to deliver projects on schedule.

  • Continuous learning mindset with an awareness of market trends and industry developments in IMIT and building systems.

  • Proficiency in both English and French would be considered an asset.

TOTAL REWARDS

The expected salary for this role is between $85,000 to $110,000 annually. Base salaries are determined considering several factors such as skills and competencies, experience, education, and internal and external competitiveness. Along with your base salary, we offer a wide array of programs that include our Short-Term Incentive bonus program, technical and business training, mentoring, wellness initiatives, the opportunity to participate in our coveted Defined Benefit Pension plan, and flexible work.
