The Opportunity We are looking for a Senior Specialist, Data Governance (process and documentation) to join our team in Markham. The role is critical for ensuring audit readiness and maintaining robust governance documentation across frameworks, standards, and processes.
The ideal candidate will be a documentation expert someone who enjoys both writing and reading, and can build clear, rational artifacts and templates that connect across business units and global partners.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain and update governance frameworks, standards, procedures, and artifacts to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
- Build and re-engineer data governance processes to deliver the right level of governance.
- Document processes with clear rationale, milestones, and ownership.
- Connect documentation across business units and functional teams for alignment.
- Work horizontally across data governance teams to ensure audit readiness.
- Support intake and delivery of data assessments, control assessments, and third-party assessments.
- Build templates, reporting views, and artifacts for governance outputs.
- Collaborate with global partners and markets to ensure consistency and regulatory compliance.
- Utilize tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, and iCare (risk reporting and management tool).
- Support initiatives related to data quality, data retention, paper records, and cloud migration.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong experience in data governance standards, frameworks, procedures, and controls.
- Expertise in documentation and building governance artifacts.
- Experience with Confluence, SharePoint, and governance process design.
- Familiarity with risk reporting tools (e.g., iCare).
- Knowledge of OSFI E21 and E23 and other regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work horizontally across teams and markets.
- Excellent communication skills—comfortable presenting to business leaders.
