The TNRD is headquartered in the City of Kamloops, the largest community within the regional district. Residents generally have short commutes, easy access to recreation and the outdoors, and a high quality of life. About the Role: The TNRD is seeking a Facilities Technician I for a temporary, full-time position.
Reporting to the Manager of Facilities, the Facilities Technician I supports the success of the Facilities team and the organization by providing both administrative and hands-on facilities maintenance.
This position is responsible for general administrative tasks, the support and coordination of procurement activities, contractor/vendor coordination, and financial reporting. In addition, this position supports the physical maintenance and operations of TNRD facilities. This role will be the primary contact for Regional District staff and contractors and will require a diverse and significant focus on customer service, administrative tasks, and physical building maintenance.
Primary responsibilities include:
-Procurement and Contract Administration:
- Assists the Facilities manager with contract procurement tasks including preparing RFPs/RFQs, tender packages, contracts, POs and related documentation.
- Posts and updates tenders on BC Bid.
- Ensures compliance with internal procurement guidelines and MIABC policies. -Financial Tracking and Reporting:
- Codes and organizes invoices, reconciles departmental expenses.
- Generates detailed financial reports through financial software and monitors the budget. -Contractor and Vendor Coordination:
- Coordinates service arrangements with contractors and vendors, solicits quotes, gathers insurance and WorkSafe documentation, maintains vendor profiles, ensures WCB accounts are active and communicates task lists and requirements to maintenance contractors. -Facility Maintenance and Operation Support:
- Compile and maintain documentation relevant to assigned tasks
- Ensures daily facility maintenance tasks are completed.
- Troubleshoots janitorial and building maintenance issues, assists in addressing building comfort concerns, resolves tenant facility issues.
- Performs on-site inspections and supports asset tracking.
- Provides hands-on supports for projects including furniture assembly, relocations, shelving adjustments and other general labor. -Administrative, meeting and Project Support:
- Prepares agendas and records and distributes meeting minutes.
- Conducts research and drafts board reports.
- Manages incident/facilities reports.
This full-time, temporary position is anticipated run until December 24, 2026, and two weeks' notice will be given should the term be extended or shortened. The position is based out of the TNRD Civic Building which is located in the heart of downtown sunny Kamloops. The vibrant TNRD Civic Building also houses the Kamloops Downtown Library, the Kamloops Art Gallery and a busy café.
Job RequirementsEducation and Experience:

Certificate in office administration or related

4 years of recent, related experience.

Trades qualification would be an asset.

A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience working in a municipal or regional government environment is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

General knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and building codes.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with staff, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues and develop effective solutions quickly.

Intermediate technical skills in Microsoft O365 programs, specifically Excel functionality including creating pivot tables, advanced formulas, etc.

Excellent customer service skills

Ability to work under limited supervision, adaptable, highly organized and able to exercise independent judgement

Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and best practices.

Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license and clean drivers abstract with the ability to travel to various district facilities as required.

Physical ability to perform general maintenance work, including climbing, lifting, and crawling into spaces

This position requires a clear Criminal Record Check and a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License (a submission of a driver's abstract is required).
This position falls under the provisions of the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 900. The placement of the Facilities Technician I is a Pay Grade 6, which is $2,464.18-$2,826.53/biweekly (2025 rates) and 14% in lieu of benefits.
