The Benefits & Disability Specialist will be responsible for administering the organization's benefits programs. This includes a retirement plan, absence policies, wellness programs, and any relevant insurance policies including life insurance, health insurance, and disability insurance. The role will also research and analyze benefit plans, policies/programs for business decisions. In addition, the role will frequently monitor government regulation legislation and other benefit trends to ensure Master’s benefit programs remain motivating, compliant, and competitive.

What you will accomplish with us:

  • Own and collaborate with HR Business Partners, Payroll Team and HR Services on all matters relating to benefits administration.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (e.g. health care, dental care, life insurance,EAP, short term disability, long term disability and retirement plans.
  • Responsible for reviewing all disability cases and approve all disability requests in collaboration with case managers and engage HRBPs to establish return to work.
  • Monthly monitoring and reporting of benefits utilizations and associated costs for HR review and strategic decisions.
  • Review and validate all benefit related invoices for approval by the appropriate authority and ensure payment by the Finance team.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain communication content, training, and educational materials in the HR shared folder and company intranet.
  • Manage, monitor, and administer all types of absences or leaves.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial laws on worker compensation across all provinces where Master has business operations.
  • Escalate difficult or complex absence/leave requests redirected by the Employee Services Team which may require consultation or collaboration with external vendors such as federal/provincial agencies, benefits services providers, consultants, or insurance companies.
  • Actively participate in the implementation and communication tasks of benefits design projects.
  • Responsible for all external and internal benefits reporting requirements of the company to federal or provincial regulatory bodies.

What You Bring to Our Team:

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or a related field preferred.

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in HR or benefits administration in a matrix organization.

  • Bilingual (French & English)

  • Good knowledge of workers compensation and disability case management.

  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Good knowledge of retirement savings plan/relevant legislation is considered an asset.

  • Good knowledge of federal and multiple provincial requirements on benefits administration across Canada is considered and asset.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
