About the Position
Lethbridge Polytechnic is seeking a Server Analyst with a strong background in enterprise infrastructure and endpoint management. This position plays a key role in maintaining the reliability, security, and sustainability of our server, storage, and endpoint management environments.
Reporting to the Manager of Enterprise Systems and Infrastructure, the Server Analyst will support both on-premises and cloud-based services, while also ensuring the effective operation of Microsoft Intune, SCCM, and endpoint imaging. This role is critical to supporting institutional priorities by strengthening service continuity, enabling proactive improvements, and ensuring operational sustainability.
The Server Analyst will collaborate closely with other Enterprise Systems members such as Network Services and the Senior Systems Analyst, as well as the Endpoint Analyst, to deliver integrated technology solutions, while also contributing a forward-looking perspective to help define and shape the future direction of the institution’s server stack.
Position Details
DIRECT****ACCOUNTABILITIES
Server and Infrastructure Management: Administering, maintaining, and optimizing on-premises and cloud-based server, storage, and virtualization environments (Azure), including the administration and monitoring of Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure. Proactively monitoring system statuses and ensuring reliability through strong documentation and change controls.
Endpoint Management: Supporting enterprise endpoint provisioning, imaging, patching, and compliance through platforms such as Microsoft Intune and SCCM.
Collaboration and Integration: Working closely with Enterprise Systems colleagues including Network Services, the Senior Systems Analyst, and the Endpoint Analyst to deliver integrated and sustainable technology solutions.
Security and Compliance: Ensuring institutional systems meet governance, security, and audit requirements by applying appropriate access controls and maintaining IT-developed compliance controls.
Resiliency and Continuity: Implementing and maintaining backup and restoration procedures for critical systems, monitoring and administering physical servers, storage, and backup solutions, and supporting disaster recovery practices.
Support and Escalation: Providing higher-level technical support to frontline technicians and the Help Desk for complex issues requiring advanced expertise.
Innovation and Sustainability: Assessing, architecting, designing, implementing, and troubleshooting enterprise solutions in Microsoft public, private, and hybrid cloud environments. Contributing to the vision and roadmap of the institution’s server stack by identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency, and future-ready solutions.
Identity and Service Administration: Providing account and service administration within Office 365, Entra, and Active Directory.
Documentation and Process Improvement: Designing, documenting, and implementing software and hardware infrastructure. Maintaining clear technical documentation and participating in process reviews to improve service delivery.
INDIRECT****RESPONSIBILITIES
Backup or team collaboration:
- As part of the Enterprise Systems team, this position will provide backup in maintaining other institutional systems as needed.
- Contribute to problem-solving and solutions engineering within the Enterprise Systems team.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to: Manager of Enterprise Systems & Infrastructure, ITS Department.
- Collaboration: Works with Network Analysts, Systems Analysts, and Security Analysts.
DIMENSIONS
The Server Analyst is directly responsible for the reliability and availability of core institutional systems that are essential to academic and administrative operations. Critical enterprise applications, including the institution’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, are hosted on on-premises servers and require continuous monitoring, patching, and proactive maintenance to ensure uninterrupted service. In addition, the role supports a hybrid infrastructure of on-premises and cloud-based environments, encompassing servers, storage, virtualization, and endpoint management platforms. The scope of responsibility includes safeguarding sensitive institutional data, enabling service continuity for thousands of users, and supporting compliance with security and audit requirements. The position has a direct impact on the institution’s ability to deliver secure, reliable, and future-ready digital services to students, faculty, and staff.
Required Qualifications

Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience managing enterprise Windows Server environments.

Minimum three (3) years of experience administering enterprise services such as Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, SCCM, and VMware.

Demonstrated experience with endpoint provisioning, imaging, patch management, and compliance in a large-scale environment.

Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including DHCP, DNS, and VLANs.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, research, and organizational skills.

Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to navigate and make decisions in complex, evolving environments.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Nutanix or other hyperconverged infrastructure solutions in an enterprise environment.

Demonstrated expertise in administering Microsoft Intune and SCCM at scale, including advanced configuration and automation.

Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Salary
Starting at $78,952 to $92,885 per annum; commensurate with education and experience.
