About the role
Department: Engineering
Location: Toronto, CA
Description Who are we? Tripledot is one of the largest independent mobile games companies in the world.
We are a multi-award-winning organisation, with a global 2,500+ strong team across 12 studios.
Our expanded portfolio includes some of the biggest titles in mobile gaming, collectively reaching top chart positions around the world and engaging over 25 million daily active users.
Tripledot’s guiding principle is that when people love what they do, what they do will be loved by others.
We’re building a company we’re proud of. One filled with driven, incredibly smart and detail-orientated people, who LOVE making games.
Our ambition is to be the most successful games company in the world, and we’re just getting started.
The role is working within our studio: Peoplefun PeopleFun is an award-winning Dallas-based game studio founded and led by game industry veterans, where game developers thrive on collaboration, creativity, teamwork, and fun.
We believe in bringing People together through Fun by creating the best in class social features and communities in our games that enables our players to engage deeply with other players. We build teams that foster healthy collaboration, incredible productivity, and life-long professional relationships.
Key Responsibilities Wordscapes serves millions of monthly players across iOS and Android. Every update, every A/B test, and every new feature ships to a massive live audience. We need someone who can build the testing infrastructure that lets us move fast without breaking things—and who’s excited about figuring out where AI tooling genuinely accelerates quality work versus where it’s noise.
This role goes beyond traditional test automation. You’ll design and implement robust client-side automation within Unity, building tools and test frameworks that validate gameplay systems, economy logic, and LiveOps configurations. While many of these automations will interact with backend systems through APIs and services, the primary focus is on client-side validation and in-engine tooling. You’ll help define how AI-assisted workflows fit into our development lifecycle and partner with gameplay engineers, backend engineers, product managers, and QA analysts to build quality systems that reduce manual regression and increase release confidence.
Current state: We have foundational test automation in place. You’ll inherit existing frameworks and be expected to significantly expand coverage, reliability, and sophistication—not start from zero.
What you’ll do AI-Assisted Quality Engineering We believe AI tools can meaningfully accelerate parts of the testing lifecycle, generating test scaffolding, identifying edge cases, improving failure diagnostics, but we’re still learning where the leverage is highest. You’ll be expected to:
- Experiment with LLM-based tools and evaluate where they genuinely accelerate testing versus where they add overhead
- Build repeatable AI-assisted workflows that integrate into CI pipelines where they prove valuable
- Help the broader team develop practical intuition for when and how to use AI tools effectively
- This isn’t a separate workstream, it’s a lens you’ll apply across everything above.
Unity & Client-Side Testing
- Develop and maintain automated tests within Unity using C#, including PlayMode and EditMode tests for gameplay systems, economy logic, and progression flows
- Create in-engine tools to simulate player states and feature configurations for faster validation
- Partner with gameplay engineers to embed validation hooks directly into systems as they’re built, shifting quality upstream
Backend & Game Services Testing
- Build automated validation for game services, APIs, and player data integrity
- Develop scripts to simulate player behavior and load against backend systems
- Ensure telemetry and logging systems support automated verification
- Integrate service-level testing into CI/CD pipelines
Tooling, Process & Mentorship
- Build internal QA tools that reduce manual testing burden and improve release quality gates
- Improve test reliability and reduce flakiness across the suite
- Mentor QA team members in automation fundamentals. This is a meaningful part of the role, not an afterthought. You’ll help level up the team’s technical capabilities over time
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Required
- 4+ years of software development or test automation experience
- Strong C# skills (Unity experience strongly preferred)
- Experience writing maintainable, well-structured test code that others can extend
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows
- Demonstrated ability to design test architecture, not just write individual tests
Preferred
- Experience testing Unity-based mobile games in a live environment
- Experience with backend or service-level testing (REST APIs, player data validation)
- Comfort experimenting with AI-assisted development tools and forming independent opinions about their value
- Experience building internal engineering tools or developer-facing utilities
- Knowledge of live game operations, A/B testing systems, or experimentation platforms
Benefits
-Time Off: Flexible Discretionary Time Off policy in addition to bank holidays to relax and refresh throughout the year. -Remote-First Working: If you are located in Dallas, you’re welcome to work in the PeopleFun office, however, there’s no expectation to. -Financial: Generous 401k match, discretionary bonuses, and competitive salaries. -Health & Wellness: Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage. -Employee Assistance Program: Anytime you need it, tap into confidential, caring support with our Employee Assistance Program, always here to lend an ear and a helping hand. -Continuous Professional Development: Propel your career with continuous opportunities for professional development. -Family-Friendly Culture: A generous parental leave policy and a supportive, family-friendly culture. -Regular company events: Yearly on-site events that celebrate our achievements and our team spirit.
