About the role
What this job involves: JLL is hiring an experienced Building Operator to join the Operations team at one of our key locations in North York. The team is responsible for safely operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing building systems and facility equipment. The team has an on-call rotation schedule for after-hours emergencies and you will be expected to participate in this.
This role is on-site 5 days/week, Monday-Friday, from 6am-2pm plus on-call as scheduled.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Maintain and repair building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural components, fire/life safety systems, and controls to meet applicable codes and standards. Perform routine preventative maintenance and respond to emergency repairs to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to tenant requests while minimizing disruption and ensuring thorough cleanup. Coordinate with contractors and vendors under management direction to complete repairs, obtain competitive pricing, and manage service agreements.
- Monitor building systems through regular inspections, record readings, make necessary adjustments, and maintain accurate work order documentation. Manage inventory of supplies and tools, ensuring equipment remains in good working condition.
- Support event setup/teardown activities including electrical and audio-visual coordination. Maintain property aesthetics and safety standards to ensure first-class building presentation.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with departmental policies. Maintain a clean, safe workplace at all times.
- Respond to after-hours emergencies as required. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience as an operator in an office building environment
- Must be available for Call-in work and be available to participate in the on-call rotation
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both oral and written, with co-workers and the public
- Must be in good physical condition, fit and able to participate in moving of supplies/equipment and moderately heavy items
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word, Excel and BMS systems
