A continuing (1.0) Band-Music 5-12 and French 8-12 teacher is required by School District #49 (Central Coast). The assignment will be at Sir Alexander Mackenzie School and Nusatsum Elementary School effective September 1, 2026. Interested teachers who are certified or who are eligible to become certified by the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch are invited to apply. Assignment may change depending on enrolment.
Teacherswithademonstratedcommitment****to:
- Developing a positive student centered learning environment;
- Knowledge of First Nations instructional strategies;
- Cooperating with parents and peers';
- Sound knowledge of technologies and their educational application;
- Commitment to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning;
- Ability to work collegially as part of a school staff;
- Comfortable planning and executing school-wide concerts and events;
- Ability to relate effectively to all students;
- Ability to promote support for a school's Music program;
- Knowledge of sound intervention skills for behaviour and cognitive difficulties;
Requirements:
- Member of the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch;
- Secondary Education Training.
Preferencewillbegiventocandidateswho****have:
- Training and successful experience in Band/Music instruction;
- Bachelor of Music degree or equivalent;
- Fluency in French and knowledge of French culture (including French-Canadian) will be considered an asset;
- Experience in teaching First Nations students at the secondary level.
This position may include other assigned duties.
The annual salary range for this position is $68,529 to $118,727 (which includes retention & recruitment allowance)plus $1,200 for moving expenses.
