The role as a Detail Technician is to pre-clean the vehicle for repair planning and final detailing for delivery. The incumbent needs to complete the work quickly and efficiently to have the vehicle ready for production and for the customer on the promised due out date. The incumbent will collaborate effectively with the paint and body department to achieve efficient vehicle flow throughout the shop. The Detail Technician will be responsible for contributing to the productivity and efficiency of the detail department. Responsibilities include detailing vehicles to remove any signs of an accident or repair, perform necessary maintenance to the shop as required and manage work assignments to achieve targets.

Job Duties

  • Pre-wash vehicles and clean for delivery.
  • Review the R/O to check that all repairs were completed to industry standards prior to beginning and notifying the Production Manager of any discrepancies.
  • Execute all activities you are responsible for on the R/O and QC form - Ensure to notify the Production Manager of any additional damage that does not appear on the R/O.
  • Fill out and sign the QC checklist before moving the vehicle to the final department.
  • Use detail products as described by manufacturer and maintain a clean work area.
  • Use the equipment properly and in a way that promotes safety for yourself and others.
  • Perform necessary maintenance to the shop as required.
  • As required, polish vehicles.
  • Manage work assignments to achieve targets set out by Production Manager.
  • Ensure the achievement of quality standards to reduce and eliminate re-work and warranty claims.
  • Constructively seek opportunities to provide feedback on repair orders to reduce costs.

Requirements

  • At least 1-3 years of detail experience with basic knowledge of the collision repair industry
  • Possess a valid drivers' license
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally

Working Conditions

  • Job requires ability to work with a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to lift objects of up to 80 lbs is required.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. gloves, safety footwear, facemask, etc.)
  • Regularly works in conditions that include heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
  • Noise level can be loud
  • Must be able to quickly move arms and legs
  • Excellent stamina is required
  • Hazards associated with the industry
  • Salary will be determined based on experience, starting at $17.60 per hour.
