The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Seasonal Labourer in Roads to assist with a variety of public works and grounds maintenance activities, including mowing duties. This role supports the maintenance and safety of the Town’s roads, sidewalks, and public spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate tractor mowing equipment, trimmers, and other grounds maintenance tools to perform roadside mowing, and other municipal properties.
- Assist with road maintenance tasks including pothole repair, sign installation, debris removal and perform flag person duties.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report maintenance and safety issues.
- Follow all safety protocols, traffic control requirements, and Town policies.
- Work collaboratively with the Public Works team and maintain a professional presence when interacting with the public.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, or related municipal work is an asset.
- Experience operating mowing or grounds maintenance equipment is desirable.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of safe work practices and equipment operation.
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Valid Class G Driver’s Licence (Ontario) with a satisfactory driving record.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Early mornings, variable hours, and occasional weekends may be required.
