The Opportunity:

We are recruiting for a JUSTICE EQUITY DIVERSITY INCLUSION (JEDI) LEAD:

  • This is a regular part-time position to fill an existing vacancy (14 hours per week with flexible scheduling) based in Guelph with travel across Waterloo Wellington.

The JEDI Lead will support the development and implementation of organizational level strategies that identify the existence of racism and oppression and lead to meaningful change. In this Lead role you will collaborate to implement recommended changes to CMHA WW’s policies and practices to better meet the needs of diverse staff and clients.

This role will lead and co-chair the agency’s JEDI committee to carry out its work plan, enabling anti-oppressive, anti-racist change across the agency. You will support the Leadership Team to advance anti-oppressive, anti-racist practice changes across service and support teams, including involvement in meaningful and sustained recruitment and retention of diverse communities that reflect the populations served by the organization. This role will collaborate with planning and implementing the delivery of training opportunities for new and existing staff and volunteers, with the goal of improving our service delivery/ practices to be more consistently anti-oppressive. You will implement an evaluation framework to monitor progress and an ongoing quality improvement framework to support ongoing improvement. This role will work in partnership with other similar roles across our Ontario Health Teams in support and alignment with the system level strategies and goals identified.

Qualifications include:

  • Preference will be given to applicants with lived experience of systemic oppression and marginalization
  • Minimum of five years experience with accountability for some or all of the following areas: organizational culture, equity, diversity practices and systems, social accountability, change management and human rights
  • Experience championing diversity and inclusion initiatives in the community with great focus on anti-oppression and anti-racism within social/health services
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the organizational obligations associated with this legislation
  • Expert level knowledge of anti-oppression, justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion frameworks including the ability to engage multiple stakeholders to prioritize, strategize and implement change
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, gain cooperation and build trust with others both within and external to the agency
  • Strong facilitation skills and general understanding of adult learning
  • Ability to challenge existing harmful or oppressive power imbalances across the health care system, and to advocate for change
  • Can understand and interpret health data, knowledge translation, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Time management and organizational skill to effectively manage workload, schedule activities and appointments to meet the demands of the position
  • Degree/Diploma in a related field
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and power point
  • Understand and are committed to the Mission, Vision and Values of CMHA WW

CLASSIFICATION AND RATE OF PAY: Level 7 (Non-Union) $41.34 to $50.24 per hour
