Salary Range: $59,711 – $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

**Effective Date:**September 1, 2025, until not later than March 13, 2026

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan for and teach all required subjects at this grade level, to effectively address the academic and social/emotional learning needs of a diverse group of students
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proven success with effective classroom management
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in creating an optimal learning environment, addressing culture and the wide range of academic, social, emotional, and behavioural needs of students
  • Demonstrated ability in enhancing student engagement through a variety of lesson designs, place based learning, outdoor education including integration of First Peoples Principle of Learning as instructional tools
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively apply current brain-based strategies as they relate to learning, self-regulation, mindful behaviour, and problem solving
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of effective strategies to support the development of literacy skills; preference will be given to individuals possessing knowledge, training and experience in a Balanced Literacy, Daily 5 or Guided Reading and/or Literature Circles, Reading/Writing Power, Powerful Thinking and the district's ACT assessment
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in teaching a well-balanced developmental numeracy approach utilizing Number Talks, Real-world applications and district's S.N.A.P assessment results
  • Knowledge of and proven experience in using current assessment practices and district assessment tools to inform, plan for and differentiate instruction for individual student success
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively adapt to meet student needs using the RTI and School-Based Team models and implement Competency Based IEPs to provide a program that supports student' growth
  • Demonstrated willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team to support student success and school's annual achievement plan
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff, and parents
  • Demonstrated ability using technology in instruction to enhance student engagement
  • Proven ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff, and parents
  • Proven ability as an effective team member who works collaboratively with colleagues and administration and/or leads school-wide initiatives
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning
  • Ability to manage a classroom-based budget
