Working with the Redevelopment team, other THP staff and external consultants, this position will play a role coordinating a wide range of activities relating to the planning, specifications, procurement, and redeployment of medical equipment technology for the Q-site and M-site Redevelopment Projects. Reporting to the Manager of Furniture and Equipment, the Senior Project Manager will act as one of the hospital’s representatives in discussions with a multi-disciplinary team of hospital professionals, department stakeholders, architects and consultants in the planning, development, and procurement of FFE.
Here Is What You Will Get To Do
- You will be considered a subject matter expert (SME) capable of making recommendations and decisions and an active link between clinical groups and the redevelopment project
- Attend meetings. Ensure utilities are correct. Review lists for missing devices. Ensure adequate space for items placed on drawings. Ensure appropriate integration and coordination of devices. Use knowledge of THP standards and current equipment to inform equipment lists and specifications. Review inventory list and confirm transferability based on PM and repair history.
- Be involved in the capital planning and redevelopment process
- coordinate the testing and acceptance testing of biomedical devices, the installation and commissioning of new biomedical devices and ensure appropriate documentation is maintained
- participate as a SME in writing Project Specific Output Specifications to ensure the Biomedical and ICAT requirements are met
- Effectively communicate to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
- Manage the daily operational aspects of a project providing project management expertise and guidance, enforcing project standards, anticipating, and troubleshooting issues and minimizing the hospital’s exposure to risk
- Develop, manage, and deliver progress reports, requirements documentation, and presentations
- Participate in the deficiency checking process
Key Criteria
- University degree or College diploma in engineering, biomedical engineering, information systems, architecture, or a health care related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the biomedical engineering field in an acute hospital is mandatory
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the planning, specification, selection, and procurement of hospital biomed equipment
- Experience and familiarity with project management and production of project management artifacts.
- PMP certification is preferred
- The ability to read architectural, mechanical, structural, and electrical drawings is considered an asset.
- Experience and familiarity with P3, AFP, or the DBFM method of procurement is essential.
- Experience and understanding of how to effectively manage change, integration, and improvement projects
- Excellent presentation and communication skills (both verbal and written) - ability to articulate analytical results and tell a story
- Demonstrated experience in team and resource management
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
- Ability to work under pressure with changing priorities in a complex environment
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to efficiently handle several tasks simultaneously
- Positive friendly manner and customer service approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy, and sincerity
- Competency in using Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as other programs such as AutoCAD and BlueBeam software applications.
- General knowledge of capital budgets, accounting, and financial management skills.
- Excellent time management skills in managing workloads, schedules, and deliverables.
- Effective interpersonal communications skills, to both internal and external stakeholders, required to build and support a positive stakeholder relationship.
Location: We offer employees in roles that are conducive to remote work, flexibility, and the right mix of remote and in-office work (approximately 80/20). Acknowledging that the primary works space will be remote work from home, there will be times when onsite presence is appropriate just as there will be times when onsite presence may not be possible.
