Job Description
The Technologist, Mining is responsible for collecting, processing, and evaluating field and operational information pertaining to mine design, surveying, drill and blast, geotechnical and mine planning activities for assigned operations at Magna Mining.
All Magna Mining team members are expected to work collaboratively with others, lead the way in health and safety, act with honesty, integrity, and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in pursuit of excellence.
Responsibilities:

Collect, process, and evaluate data from various mining systems (such as mine surveys, equipment performance data, and environmental monitoring).

Use software and technology tools to track, model and forecast mining operations, optimizing efficiency and productivity.

Prepare reports based on data collection and analysis to assist in decision-making.

Conduct precise surveys to determine the exact positions and layouts of mine infrastructure and ore bodies.

Develop detailed layouts for mining sites, including infrastructure, equipment placement, and access routes.

Prepare technical reports and documentation related to mine design, performance, and production.
-
Maintain accurate records of mine layouts, schedules, and budgets for future reference.

Assist in the development of short-term and long-term mine plans that align with organization strategy.
-
Contribute to the design of underground mining operations, including layouts, ventilation systems, and support structures.
-
Conduct geotechnical evaluations and collaborate with geologists to determine the optimal extraction methods.
-
Use specialized software to create and update mine design and sequence.
-
Ensure that all mine plans and designs comply with local, regional, and federal regulations related to safety and the environment.

Support senior engineers in managing projects from conception to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

Assist in coordinating with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure effective and reliable execution of work.

Project scheduling and tracking.

Ventilation, ground control surveys as required.
Requirements
Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents
Post-secondary education in Mine Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Work Experience: Nature & Length
- 3 or more years of mine engineering technology experience.
Key Competencies: Behaviours & Skills

Advanced drafting experience, specifically with Deswik is considered an asset.

Proficient in mine design and planning software.

Awareness of ground control and ventilation applications in an underground mine

Established knowledge of the principles and practices of mine engineering technology.

Proficient with common computer skills including preparation of documents and presentations, spreadsheet use, database data entry, and email use.

Proven analytical skills with attention to detail.

Written and verbal communication skills.
