About the role

The Team: The Tasmanian Department of Health is seeking passionate and skilled clinicians to join our specialist Alcohol and Drug Counselling Service. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to individuals affected by alcohol and other drug use. Be part of a supportive and dynamic service committed to improving health outcomes across the Tasmanian community.

The Role: As a key member of the Alcohol and Drug Service Community Team, you will provide evidence-based assessment, case management, and individual outpatient counselling to people impacted by alcohol and other drug use. You will work with a diverse client group, often presenting with a range of complex health and psychosocial needs. Operating within a trauma informed and harm minimisation focused framework, you will contribute to multidisciplinary care planning, deliver targeted health interventions, and support ongoing quality improvement within the service.

You will need:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary evidence based practice used in the treatment and prevention of alcohol and other drug dependence, including alcohol and other drug assessment, the harm minimisation framework, interventions and prevention activities.
  • Knowledge of, and the ability to undertake, comprehensive assessments and therapeutic interventions with complex AOD issues.
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop, monitor and implement quality assurance and improvement activities and/or research.

Details of appointment: Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Salary Packaging: You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

  • Completed or working towards post graduate qualifications in AOD
  • Current Driver’s Licence
