Position Overview:

The Materials Buyer is responsible for the planning, procurement, and inventory management of raw materials required to meet production and business objectives. This role involves maintaining accurate material plans, driving purchase order execution, and managing supplier relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective supply of materials.

What You'll Do:

  • Ensure raw material demand and supply requirements are accurately maintained within the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system at the SKU level.
  • Generate weekly operating plans for raw materials, highlighting deviations, risks, and adjustments; clearly communicate category status to internal stakeholders.
  • Make procurement decisions for assigned raw material categories; generate purchasing plans, issue purchase orders to suppliers, and secure supplier confirmations.
  • Set and monitor inventory targets, safety stock levels, and replenishment strategies for assigned materials to balance availability and working capital objectives.
  • Maintain accurate material master data and planning parameters in MRP systems for assigned categories.
  • Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to raw material availability, supplier performance, and forecast accuracy.
  • Identify and proactively communicate material availability risks, delays, or supply constraints; recommend and implement mitigation plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement in material planning and procurement processes.

Let's Talk About You:

  • College diploma or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in procurement, materials planning, or supply chain management.
  • Proficiency with MRP systems (experience with ERP platforms is an asset).
  • Experience in the apparel, textile, or related manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, basic data analysis)
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and inventory management principles.
  • Ability to analyze data from multiple sources to make informed decisions and recommendations.
  • High attention to detail with a sense of urgency in resolving supply issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external suppliers.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and drive positive change.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range:

$54,000.00 - $76,000.00 / year
