This Regular Part Time Stores I position at Sturgeon Community Hospital, performs a variety of tasks associated with the picking, packaging, shipping and receiving orders for hospital supplies, equipment and/or food in accordance with established Alberta Health Services’ standards and practices. Duties include; receiving supplies, including direct purchase orders; unpacking and stocking supplies, equipment and/or food ensuring appropriate documentation is completed; ensure proper rotation of supplies and completes quality assurance of stock to minimize waste; maintain accurate inventory records by reporting deficiencies and/or damages to appropriate stakeholders; record and control items for return or further shipment, and maintain the organization and cleanliness of the stock room, freezers and coolers. The successful candidate will be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with speed and accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality while showing respect to all people is essential. Work under pressure in high stress situations. Communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, and other hospital departments. Demonstrate critical thinking skills and initiative. Work as an effective, professional team member. Demonstrate a patient first approach as outlined in the AHS Foundational Strategies.
Description:
As a Stores I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with the picking, packaging, shipping and receiving of orders for hospital supplies, equipment and/or food in accordance with AHS guidelines and standards. You will process incoming requisitions and distribute supplies, complete cart audits for quality assurance and communicates frequently with stakeholders to ensure appropriate and correct quantity of supplies are available. In addition, you will track and report on inventory to ensure over stocking does not occur.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Must be capable of pushing and pulling heavy wheeled carts up to and occasionally exceeding 275 Kgs. Must be capable of walking and or standing for long periods of time. Must regularly use hand and arms to reach, lift, and carry heavy items up to 25 kg.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Must be able to walk and stand on hard surfaces and enter into cold environments throughout the day. Must be able to complete repetitive work for long periods of time. Able to read, write and orally communicate clearly using English and demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Must be able to multi-task, have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrate ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Basic knowledge and experience with computer applications for the purpose of entering purchasing orders, access to online training and to access email and reporting. Proficient in basic math skills to support accurate tallies and calculations. Must be able to bend, carry and floor to waist lift up to 25 kgs. All new employees must be able to attend 2 days of Patient Food Services New Employee Orientation followed by an onsite orientation shift. An attached resume is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with monitoring and minimizing waste utilizing FIFO procedures, auditing, inventory management and receiving deliveries. Minimum one year experience in customer service. Minimum one year experience in food service within a healthcare environment. Experience in the operation of manual handling equipment (power jack, tow machine, etc.). Knowledge of Food Safe & Food Safe storage temperatures and HACCP principles. Food Safety Certification is an asset. WHMIS training.
