Risk and WCB Specialist Our client is seeking a Risk and WCB Specialist to manage claims and strengthen enterprise risk programs. The role focuses heavily on WCB claims management while also building structure and visibility around broader risk exposures such as injuries, vehicle incidents, and property damage. It’s an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys creating processes that bring clarity and consistency.
Your Success Will Be Defined By Your Ability To
- Ability to manage end to end workers’ compensation claims with WCB Alberta and WorkSafe BC
- Advocate on claims, challenging outcomes when needed to ensure fair resolution
- Track, analyze, and report enterprise risk (injuries, vehicle incidents, property damage)
- Collaborate with Legal, Safety, Insurance, and Operations on risk visibility and resolution
- Improve risk tracking and reporting processes across the organization
- Support subcontractor and supplier pre-qualification from a risk/compliance perspective
- Contribute to strategic reviews of claims trends, costs, and exposures
- Adapt to ambiguity and evolving role expectations
Your strengths include:
- Experience managing workers’ compensation claims (WCB Alberta, WorkSafe BC)
- Background in high-risk industries (industrial, construction, field-based)
- Risk management expertise beyond HSE
- Strong ownership, judgment, and ability to challenge outcomes
- Skilled at creating structure and clarity in complex environments
- Analytical ability to turn claims/risk data into insights
- Independent, driven, and process-improvement focused
- Effective communicator across Legal, Safety, Insurance, and external partners
- Post-secondary education; risk management/ISO certification an asset
