About the role

The Financial Analyst plays a key role in the organization’s financial operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and meaningful financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders. This role supports decision-making across the organization by preparing financial statements, analyzing variances, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements for not-for-profit entities. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for funders, Board of Directors, auditors, and management.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insight into trends, variances, and performance metrics.
  • Develop financial models and tools to support program costing, grant tracking, and forecasting.
  • Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including consolidating departmental inputs and preparing reports for review.
  • Collaborate with program and department managers to provide insight into budget variances and funding utilization.
  • Maintain and improve internal financial reporting tools and dashboards.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data by performing regular reconciliations and variance analyses.
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of the annual audit, program audits, and year-end financial reporting.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements and enhanced reporting.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial reporting or accounting, preferably within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience with fund accounting and grant reporting is an asset.
  • Familiarity with ASNPO and CRA requirements for charities is preferred.
