About The Role
What if your years of graduate research could directly shape the intelligence of AI systems used by millions of people worldwide? We're looking for Masters and PhD researchers to bring their deep domain expertise to one of the most consequential challenges in technology — teaching AI to reason, problem-solve, and think at a genuinely advanced level.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers who want to do meaningful, intellectually stimulating work on their own schedule. No prior AI industry experience required — your academic expertise is exactly what we need.
Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
Design and solve complex, multi-disciplinary problems that challenge and sharpen AI reasoning capabilities Apply your graduate-level expertise to create rigorous, domain-specific content that pushes AI models to their limits Review and evaluate AI-generated solutions for accuracy, depth, and intellectual rigor Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts across leading research labs Ensure academic quality, clarity, and precision across all deliverables Work independently on task-based assignments at your own pace
Who You Are
Holds a Master's or PhD in a STEM or highly technical field from a top university Strong research background — publications, complex project management, or equivalent scholarly track record Naturally rigorous and detail-oriented, with high standards for accuracy and depth Exceptional written communicator who can convey complex ideas with clarity Fluent in English and currently based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in an async environment
Nice to Have
Prior experience with data annotation, data quality, or AI evaluation workflows Proficiency in Python, R, or other research-oriented programming languages Cross-disciplinary expertise spanning multiple technical domains Experience designing experiments, rubrics, or assessment frameworks
