About the role
Applications are invited from teachers with
**BC Certification ** for the following teaching position:
Port Hardy Secondary School, Port Hardy, BC
0.20 FTE Temporary – LART
open until filled
Commencing: ASAP to June 30, 2026
or return of the incumbent, whichever comes first
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
-
university coursework in Inclusive Education to meet the needs of students with intellectual, physical, emotional and learning disabilities, i.e. diagnosis and remediation of reading and math difficulties and Level B testing;
-
experience developing and implementing IEPs;
-
the ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies;
-
strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills to communicate with students, staff, and parents in a team oriented approach to teaching and learning;
-
demonstrated ability to motivate students and adjust instructional strategies accordingly and to adapt curriculum to meet diverse student needs;
-
knowledge and experience teaching the B.C. Secondary Curriculum;
-
strong classroom management skills;
-
qualifications and experience working with students with challenging behaviours;
-
experience with RTI (Response to Intervention) systems;
-
strong interest in innovation and inquiry; and
-
ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices.
The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $66,299 to $116,016, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The Remote Recruitment and Retention allowance is available for SD85 teachers payable at $3,126 over ten months.
