About the role
Tomlinson is Eastern Canada’s leader in environmental, construction and transportation infrastructure services. Tomlinson Environmental Services is seeking to hire a Hydrovac Operator (AZ/DZ Driver) for its Power Road facility. This is a full-time permanent and year-round position. This role is labor-intensive, and you will be required to drive a variety of trucks (Vacuum Trucks & hydrovac trucks). The location of the position is located on 5555 Power Road. This position would be working from Monday to Friday, from 7am to 5pm. (Hours have potential to start earlier and run later when required as well as occasional after hours and weekend work. It also includes on-call rotations for emergencies).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operating and driving primarily Hydrovac Trucks to transport waste mainly on local routes and short inter-urban routes.

Loading, unloading and handling vacuum hoses involving lifting items up to 50 pounds.

Performing pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections and overseeing all aspects of vehicle and vehicle systems as well as condition of equipment.

Ensuring cargo securement in accordance with safety requirements and following safety procedures for transporting goods.

Recording hours of service and maintaining electronic log.

Administering bills of lading and manifests.

Communicating with Dispatcher, other Drivers and Customers using communication devices.

Performing DVIR on equipment and vehicles.
-
Operating equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid AZ/DZ Driver’s License is required (accepting applicants who have just graduated with AZ and/or DZ License and willing to provide on the job training as long as applicant has ability to drive 13 & 18-speed manual transmission).
- Successful applicant will receive up to 1 month of job training including WHMIS, TDG, Chemical Awareness Training, LOTO, ECA, and REG 347.
- Hydrovac/vacuum Truck experience is considered an asset.
- 1-2 years of commercial driving experience is considered an asset.
- Able to work from Monday to Friday and must have the ability to work flexible hours including occasional weekends, holidays and being on call.
- Be able to provide a Clean CVOR and Drivers Abstract.
