Rate of Pay: $25.01 to $29.531 per hour

The Health Records Department, St. Joseph's Hospital site has a vacancy for a Temporary Full Time Health Records Technician 1. Reporting to the Manager, Health Records, this individual will perform a variety of health record functions including receptionist responsibilities, secure retrieval and storage of health records, both in hard copy and electronic formats, assembly and analysis of records, data entry, scanning functions, in compliance with legislative regulations, notices, procedures and health record practices.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent knowledge of the office skills, health record practices and procedures normally acquired from post secondary education, ie, Health Information Management and/or progressively responsible records management experience.

  • Must posses the ability to work in a fully computerized environment, with specific experience, training and proficiency required in computer applications, utilizing a full range of applications in an office environment, demonstrating excellent keyboard skills.

  • Good knowledge and hands on working experience with Meditech modules and applications in particular ADM, MRI, CWS Archiving and Scanning modules.

  • Knowledge and ability to interpret and ensue compliance to pertinent legislation, ie, Personal health Information Protection Act.

  • Must possess good communication skills and good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a variety of clients, clinicians and general public on a daily basis.

  • Must possess initiative, tact and good judgment with ability to prioritize and multi-task.

  • Demonstrated team and independent work skills.

  • Demonstrated regular work attendance.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
