Starting Rate: $26.87 hourly
Salary Range: $26.87 - $29.44 hourly
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Classification: CUPE Inside Class 5
Status: Temporary Full-Time – up to 18 months

The Opportunity:
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative and coordination
support to all aspects of the communications division for the purpose of fostering and
maintaining a positive image for the District.
What you will do:
• In collaboration with the Communications team, coordinate the creation and implementation
of communication, media and public relations plans, key messages and materials.
- Coordinate intake process for media inquiries and where needed, directing them to
appropriate communication team members.
- Support the production of marketing and creative elements of communication and campaign
plans, including creative conceptualization, writing, editing and design to reach target
audiences.
- Track, research, and produce reports on new stories/earned media generated from
inquiries.
- Coordinate logistics for media and external special events, in collaboration with other
members of the communications division and relevant department or project staff. This may
require occasionally working after hours (i.e., evenings and weekends)
- Coordinate logistics and scheduling of team training, as well as corporate training sessions
hosted by the communication division (i.e., website, branding, forms, engage/survey
training, etc.)
- Administer division procurement processes, vendor contracts, and track/report on vendor
invoicing/ expenditures monthly.
- Track and organize various types of data that will help inform communication strategies,
processes, and key service indicators.
- Provide administrative support to the Communications Manager and coordinate scheduling
and agendas for team meetings.
- Assist in upholding corporate communications policies, procedures, accessibility
requirements and brand standards consistent with the communications strategy.
- Maintain division files and record keeping systems including electronic files, scanning,
records retention, and research. This includes collection and proper filing of consent forms
and ensuring division distribution lists are accurate and current.
What you will need:
• Graduation from a post-secondary program in communications, marketing, or a related field,
- and over 2 years of experience in communications, marketing, or a related field, or an
equivalent
-
combination of education and relevant experience.

Excellent customer service and communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to
respond to and
- communicate effectively in-person, over the phone or via written correspondence, including
tactfully handling
-
or escalating difficult situations.
-
Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize relevant software applications, including knowledge
and
-
experience creating content for print, social media and other digital media.

Highly organized with strong attention to detail to deal with and prioritize multiple tasks,
often with competing
-
deadlines.
-
Ability to travel throughout Muskoka to attend work related events, deliver materials and for
other work-related purposes.
