Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
The School of Architecture at Dalhousie University invites applications for a Part-Time Academic Instructor position in the Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) degree program. The M.Arch. is a professional two-year graduate Architecture degree. Students complete a Pre-Professional Bachelor degree before M.Arch. enrolment.
The Instructor will teach a first-year 3-credit architecture elective seminar. Graduate seminars are topics-based and can be developed in the instructor’s research and/or practice area-of-expertise. Graduate elective courses consist of up to approximately twenty students and meet one time each week for 3 hours. The Fall Term is a 14-week term. Graduate elective courses may be taught remotely. In-person is preferred.
This course focuses on an advanced topic in architectural representation. The topic changes from year to year. It may emphasize medium, relation to design, or history and theory.

Candidates to state in their cover letter which topic(s) they will propose to instruct. CV, Teaching Dossier, and/or Portfolio should provide evidence of knowledge in the proposed area(s).

Qualifications / Requirements
M.Arch or equivalent with demonstrated expertise in the advertised topic.
Preferred Qualifications
Research accomplishment as demonstrated through CV, Portfolio, and Publications
Prior instruction in subject area at graduate level or equivalent
Professional Competencies
Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, foster student learning, work collaboratively with diverse faculty and students, and contribute to an inclusive academic environment.
Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement

All offers of employment as a Part-Time Academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University.
