About the role
Role: Azure Data Engineer Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid) Duration: 12 Months Contract with high possible extension Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimize enterprise-scale data platforms within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, PySpark, Delta Lake, and modern cloud-based data engineering frameworks. This role involves building scalable data ingestion and transformation solutions, implementing best practices, supporting SDLC processes, and collaborating with architecture, DevOps, security, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions.
Required Skills: Azure Data Factory (ADF) & Azure Databricks – design, development, orchestration, and implementation of enterprise-scale data ingestion and transformation pipelines. PySpark, Delta Lake & SQL – scalable data engineering, performance tuning, optimization, and development of Bronze/Silver/Gold data layers. Azure Data Engineering & Cloud Integration – experience with Event Hub, ADLS, Key Vault, Synapse, CI/CD, DevOps, monitoring, governance, and enterprise data architecture.
Preferred Skills: Databricks AI Security Framework (DASF) and enterprise data governance experience. Azure Monitoring, Data Lineage & Observability tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, lineage frameworks). Financial Services / Regulated Industry experience with architecture evaluations and proof-of-concept (POC) development.
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline. Azure Data Engineer Associate and/or Databricks certifications preferred.
