Job Synopsis
The Finance Associate is responsible for accounts payable, donations processing, and donor database administration. The Finance Associate will work primarily in-person in the MCC Alberta office in Calgary; a hybrid remote arrangement may be considered for the right candidate.

- Relevant education and/or experience in accounts payable and data processing.
- Good organizational skills and time management skills.
- Focus on accuracy and attention to detail, with flexibility to aid donors and co-workers.
- Effective communication skills – both written and verbal, in person and over the telephone.
- Strong relational skills – the ability to relate to people in a positive and collaborative manner.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
- Basic skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook required. Experience using Sparkrock 365 (or equivalent accounting software), and DPO (or equivalent donor management software) preferred.
- Respect for and maintenance of confidentiality and privacy.
- Satisfactory criminal record check.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts payable (50%)

Timely processing and payment of invoices.

Ensures sufficient backup is maintained for accounts payable and payments.

Assists with the year-end audit.

Assists with the financial needs for Relief Sales and other events.

Communicates effectively with staff and outside agencies as required.

Other tasks and special projects in the department as time permits
Donations and donor database (50%)
- Deposits donations and other revenue at the bank as needed.
- Processes and records donations received (cash, cheques, credit cards, web donations, Canada Helps, CFGB imports, etc.).
- Maintains donor database (DPO) and provides support to DPO users in the organization.
- Prepares and sends donation tax receipts (printing letter receipts, emailing electronic receipts). Manages requests for duplicate receipts.
- Runs weekly donations reports for the Communications & Development team.
- Assists the Communications & Development team with donor database management and provides support for donation calls from donors.

Base salary: $55,436.53
