We are looking for an Engineer in Training, Asset Performance to support engineering duties related to asset maintenance, protection, and the development of construction/material standards. If you're passionate about civil engineering and eager to grow, apply now!
Major Responsibilities:
- Asset Performance: this task includes site visits to evaluate the aging infrastructure, preparation of civil assessments providing recommendations, and preparation of field instructions to repair the hazard if not capital.
- Asset protection: Work closely with contractors to protect ENMAX infrastructure during nearby construction projects. This includes reviewing contractor plans and providing feedback to mitigate risk.
- Standards: develop and support construction and material standards for civil infrastructure, underground chambers, substation structures, buildings, and equipment foundations.
- Stakeholder collaboration: Collaborate with all internal stakeholders such as Projects, Engineering, Planning, Field Services, Safety, and Supply Chain Management.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Registered as an Engineer in Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geosciences of Alberta (APEGA) or be eligible for registration.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Knowledge and experience with structural design codes including familiarity with the Alberta and National Building Codes, Steel Design Code, Concrete Design Code, and Highway and Bridge Design Code.
- Field site review and construction support experience is required.
- Experience with municipal and provincial permitting (i.e.: Utility Line Assignments).
- Experience with proximity agreements, crossing agreements, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple projects.
- Familiarity with drafting tools – i.e.: MicroStation, AutoCAD is an asset.
- Routing design experience is an asset.
- Experience with manholes and vaults is an asset.
- Experience with transmission and distribution overhead design is an asset.

- Effective oral and written communication skills are required for the position.
- Highly Organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities as necessary.

Salary: Engineer in Training Family Level A (Current CUPE 2025 rates)
$81,593.69 - $86,692.06 - $91,790.43 $96,888.79 - $101,987.16
Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) workforce with office workspace located at 8820 - 52 St. S.E. Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
