ABOUT THE POSITION: The Brooks Junior High School is seeking applications for a full time School Administrative Assistant position, to work both independently and as a team, to support students, staff and operations of the school . This position will work approximately 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. The start date for this position is as soon as possible and ends on June 26, 2026, with the possibility of extension.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL: The Brooks Junior High School (BJHS) is home to the Division’s Grade 7-9 Levels Program. BJHS is proud to offer a vast option program including fine arts, construction and foods. BJHS is also proud to run a significant number of extracurricular programs and sports teams to accommodate the large number of students who wish to participate in organized events. At BJHS we value students creating strong connections within the school community while achieving their highest academic potential.

Job Duties
- Act as a first point contact and administrative support for BJHS students, staff, parents, as well as, community members.
- Maintain, enter data, and ensure the accurate recording of class schedules, and grades in the PowerSchool Student Information System (SIS) platform, compliant with Alberta Education requirements.
- Update student attendance information in the SIS platform, as required.
- Act as general PowerSchool SIS platform support, for staff and parents at the school location.
- Assist parents and staff in using the KEV/School Cash system to maintain and complete daily school accounting and bookkeeping tasks.
- Maintain, order and organize office, school, and instructional supplies.
- Manage web resources including digital communications, newsletter, events, and the school calendar.
- Support staff with substitute bookings, including contacting and booking substitutes, sending dispatches to the automated booking system, and accurately recording absences in the Atrieve system.
- On a weekly basis, reconcile substitute bookings with staff absences and provide the weekly report to payroll.
- Support the school principal by collecting and reconciling any required timesheets.

Education And Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of office administration experience
Considered An Asset But Not a Requirement
- Post-secondary training, diploma or degree in a relevant field
- Familiarity with PowerSchool Student Information System, PASI, Docushare, Laserfische as well as, bookkeeping procedures, KEV and SchoolCash Online will be considered an asset.
- A combination of the minimum education requirements, along with relevant experience, may be considered-
