The RMO Director will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless allocation, optimization, and management of resources across projects, with a focus on the North American Region. This is a senior, highly collaborative role requiring strong communication, analytical, and decision-driving skills to align staffing with Franchise priorities while maintaining studio morale and operational efficiency.
The RMO Director will lead efforts to refine and uphold resource management processes, addressing known challenges and inconsistencies in standards. A key focus will be on implementing scalable solutions that align with franchise strategy, uphold craft expertise, and prioritize equitable, transparent decision-making.
Key Responsibilities Resource Allocation & Process Leadership
- Lead Resource Strategy: Partner with key stakeholders like Craft Directors, Development Directors (DDs), and Production Directors to develop and enforce a clear, scalable RMO process that aligns with studio and franchise priorities.
- Facilitate Staffing Decisions: Ensure resource decisions are based on roles and skill needs, not individual preferences, mitigating reliance on personal relationships or reputation.
- Promote Early Craft Involvement: Involve craft leadership early to ensure accurate role definition and alignment with project and studio priorities.
- Manage Transition Periods: Optimize processes to ramp off team members smoothly while ensuring readiness for onboarding to new projects, minimizing idle time.
- Support Defined Project Structures & Efficient Production: Ensure the scalability and efficiency of project organizations by refining resource allocation processes that align with defined project structures. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, promote clear project roles, and enable smooth transitions, ultimately supporting the delivery of high-quality products.
Governance & Standards
- Uphold Standards & Processes: Establish and enforce consistent standards for defining resource needs, conducting impact analyses, and accepting outcomes across all HLFs and projects. Serve as a point of accountability, ensuring resource decisions adhere to agreed processes.
- Define Contracting Strategy: Develop and enforce a clear strategy for engaging contractors, ensuring their use aligns with studio priorities, project timelines, and budgetary constraints. Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and Finance to track contractor usage, costs, and compliance with budgets.
- Support Change Management: Train and coach stakeholders on RMO processes, including need definition, impact analysis, and structured decision-making.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain Accurate Data: Track overall headcount, including permanent, temporary, and contracted staff, while ensuring high-quality RMO datasets.
- KPI Development: Define and publish regular KPIs on resource allocation, staffing efficiency, and project impact.
- Data-Driven Insights: Analyze staffing trends and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and inform decision-making.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with Finance, PE, and Recruiting to align resource plans with budgets, headcount caps, and hiring timelines.
- Facilitate Communication: Establish clear communication channels and regular review cadences with studio leadership to ensure transparency and alignment.
- Team Morale Management: Address team morale issues related to resource decisions, ensuring transparency and sensitivity during transitions.
Tools & Process Optimization
- Refine Tools: Work with the operations team to develop and optimize tools for staffing requests, tracking, and reporting to reduce administrative overhead and improve process efficiency.
- Scalable Systems: Drive continuous improvements in tools, workflows, and methodologies to support the evolving needs of multi-studio, multi-project environments.
Qualifications Experience
- 7+ years in resource management, production operations, or a related role within the gaming or technology industry.
- Demonstrated success in managing RMO needs across multi-project environments, including live service and F2P titles.
Skills
- Expertise in resource management tools (e.g., Asana, Airtable) and advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for modeling, analysis, and presentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with proven problem-solving capabilities.
