What you will do ?

  • Act as the first point of contact for all visitors and patrons, providing detailed information and direction about the facility, programs, products and services
  • Process program registrations and facility bookings
  • Collect facility admission fees, handle cash and prepare daily deposits
  • Provide first aid, CPR and emergency evacuation support as needed
  • Provide historical interpretation with a focus on sales in on-site retail locations
  • Work with Interpretive unit staff in the presentation of living history relative to the time era of the on-site stores
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or higher or equivalent
  • Some experience providing customer service, including cash handling and using computer software programs (point of sale, registration software and other facility related computerized equipment)

Skills required for success:

  • Highly developed interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions and information
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, facility staff, volunteers and other visitors to the facility
  • Strong conflict resolution skills, including the ability to respond to emergent situations
  • High level of proficiency using Google Applications and Microsoft Office
  • Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies
  • Embracing a Culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion

Assets:

  • Ability to communicate in a second language
  • Experience working in a museum, cultural centre or historic site

Conditions of Employment:

  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Certificates are required prior to employment
  • Hire is dependent on Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement
