What you will do ?
- Act as the first point of contact for all visitors and patrons, providing detailed information and direction about the facility, programs, products and services
- Process program registrations and facility bookings
- Collect facility admission fees, handle cash and prepare daily deposits
- Provide first aid, CPR and emergency evacuation support as needed
- Provide historical interpretation with a focus on sales in on-site retail locations
- Work with Interpretive unit staff in the presentation of living history relative to the time era of the on-site stores
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 or higher or equivalent
- Some experience providing customer service, including cash handling and using computer software programs (point of sale, registration software and other facility related computerized equipment)
Skills required for success:
- Highly developed interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions and information
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, facility staff, volunteers and other visitors to the facility
- Strong conflict resolution skills, including the ability to respond to emergent situations
- High level of proficiency using Google Applications and Microsoft Office
- Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies
- Embracing a Culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion
Assets:
- Ability to communicate in a second language
- Experience working in a museum, cultural centre or historic site
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Certificates are required prior to employment
- Hire is dependent on Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement
