Position Title: Senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer
Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite) Mode: Contract
Position Overview
Successful candidate will play a key role in technical design reviews, infrastructure automation, cloud deployments, middleware administration, performance optimization, disaster recovery planning, and knowledge transfer throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will: Review, analyze, and enhance technical solution designs. Develop, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation scripts. Deploy and promote solutions across Development, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Production environments. Configure, customize, upgrade, patch, and support enterprise middleware technologies. Build and manage Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows. Design and implement infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, and Packer. Support application integration and enterprise data migration activities. Participate in QA, production deployment, stabilization, and post-production support. Monitor enterprise application performance and troubleshoot infrastructure issues. Implement backup, disaster recovery (DR), storage, and capacity management strategies. Prepare technical documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions for ministry staff. Produce monthly project status reports outlining deliverables, accomplishments, risks, and project progress.
Must-Have Skills
10+ years of experience supporting enterprise systems, data communications, and telecommunications technologies, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, UNIX Solaris, Mainframe IMS Connect, and enterprise system software. Extensive experience with WebLogic 12c, WebSphere 9, and Informatica PowerCenter 10 administration, configuration, upgrades, and patching. Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, Packer, OpenShift, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Strong experience with Git, GitOps, branching strategies, pull requests, and CI/CD pipelines. Expertise in performance tuning, backup and disaster recovery, storage and capacity management, database migration, and Azure infrastructure. Experience with Java/J2EE, Node.js, Azure Functions, Serverless architecture, and Azure Application Gateway. Strong production support, incident management, change management, troubleshooting, and application monitoring experience in enterprise environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting enterprise transportation systems or transportation safety applications. Previous Ontario Public Sector (OPS) or public sector experience. Experience with enterprise cloud modernization and middleware refresh initiatives. ITIL-based operational support experience.
Required Qualifications
DevOps & Cloud Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Azure DevOps and cloud-native technologies.
Extensive experience with
Azure DevOps Pipelines Docker Terraform Ansible Packer OpenShift Strong understanding of Git version control, GitOps practices, branching strategies, and pull request workflows.
Middleware & Enterprise Platforms
Minimum 10 years of experience administering and supporting: Oracle WebLogic 12c IBM WebSphere 9 Informatica PowerCenter 10 Middleware installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and customization
Infrastructure & Operating Systems
Extensive experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, including: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7+) UNIX Solaris Mainframe IMS Connect Enterprise system software and administration tools
