What is the opportunity?
Reporting directly to the Director for Cash & Payments Operations, the Associate Director, SWIFT Program & Payments Governance is a highly visible role driving the effective oversight and strategic execution of payments modernization across Canadian Operations RBC Investor Services.
The role involves managing the SWIFT Program and Payments governance process, providing day-to-day leadership on key mandatory changes, liaising with internal & external stakeholders, conducting research, and preparing updates, and managing and tracking progress against key objectives related to SWIFT Program & Payments Modernization.
The role leads transformational change over multi-year time horizons through the implementation of SWIFT ISO 20022 MT to MX and SWIFT Mandatory changes. The role is also responsible to drive continuous improvement initiatives and apply EASI methodology. Manage UAT and PIV tests, and liaise with RBC Enterprise T&O, Interbank Operations & Clearings Regulation | Strategy, Transformation & Enterprise Payments, IS’s partners to influence external processes and behaviors. They are the go-to person for in depth operational process knowledge for the centers they support.
What will you do?
- Consultation on the operational and technical impacts in the migration of SWIFT traffic from BESS à GTX
- Similar consultation on impacts in buildout of MX Cash message flows on the new GTX EWR
- Consultation on our SWIFT traffic patterns and statistics (SwiftWatch etc)
- Consultation on SWIFT structures and infrastructures
- Support on crafting client communications on SWIFT message format / traffic flow changes
- Raising ER's or CC's in PEGA for SWIFT related changes
- Coordination with all relevant business teams at all stages of projects
- Requirements review and sign off
- Review of technical documents (not sign off)
- Analyzing and instructing SWIFT message routing rule changes on BESS & GTX and HVPE
- Test scope and scripts review and sign off and test prep including test messages where required by QA
- Will support projects and enhancement initiatives in payments operations, as required.
- Experience leading a team to ensure strict adherence to internal and industry policies and SLA’s [Service Level Agreement]
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Undergraduate degree, and 4+ years or relevant experience in the industry
- Expertise on the SWIFT message flows across Toronto and London BIC’s
- Expertise in understanding downstream processing impacts resulting from message / message format changes
- Deep operational understanding
- Deep understanding of SWIFT’s strategic direction and messaging changes in the
- Excellent judgement, relationships management, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with influence a broad range of stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to manage competing high-priority initiatives in a rapidly changing and highly ambiguous environment, maintaining focus and a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong business acumen, financial acumen and analytical skill set. Ability to absorb information on a variety of complex issues both financial and non-financial and summarize key issues or concerns and identify common themes and trends; demonstrated strategic thinking abilities
Nice to have
- Direct people management experience a plus. May manage a team of associates, as required.
