What will you be doing!
- Overseeing operations of matrixed staff to ensure work is performed diligently, safely, and in compliance with all standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Establishing and maintaining safe work practices and cultivating a strong safety culture to eliminate or reduce incidents.
- Developing and presenting long‑range and fiscal business plans for matrixed personnel and ensuring effective resource management to meet customer demand without idle capacity.
- Managing personnel training, succession planning, and recruitment, and maintaining an appropriate number of trained and qualified staff.
- Building strong relationships with internal customers to secure a customer base and ensure satisfaction with services provided.
- Setting operational goals, monitoring progress, reporting status, and ensuring commitments are met.
- Implementing and maintaining quality programs, procedures, systems, and inter‑functional processes.
- Managing operating and overhead budgets responsibly and efficiently.
- Supporting company‑wide initiatives and contributing to corporate success through participation in cross‑functional teams.
- Ensuring readiness for emergency preparedness and the ability to effectively manage incidents when required.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What We Are Looking For

Education

Related post‑secondary degree or diploma from a recognized institution, combined with formal on‑the‑job training in leadership, operations, and trades work.

Experience
-
Minimum of five years in a supervisory role, preferably complemented by 3–5 years of managerial experience.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to lead in environments with diverse and sometimes conflicting customer requirements.
-
Experience working in a research or production environment is considered a strong asset.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated leadership.

Ability to influence work culture, guide teams through change, and motivate staff toward high levels of professionalism.

Strong understanding of field work principles and facility/trades operations.

Ability to collaborate effectively with trades personnel and all levels of management.

Proficiency in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating facility maintenance activities.

Ability to maintain trained and qualified staff and ensure compliance with safety, operational, and regulatory standards.

Strong decision‑making skills in operational, safety, and emergency preparedness contexts.

Security Clearance Eligibility Required
-
Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions
- Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty‑seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
- The role may require extended hours to meet operational deadlines.
